Songwriting Workshops

Traditional music education focuses mainly on repetition and skill. While these skills are highly important, there is also a need to supplement those skill with creativity. By leading songwriting workshops Adam helps every participant discover their inner songwriter. Anybody can write a song, they just need the confidence and resources to do it. Through scaffolded teaching Adam teaches the participants the various elements of songs (rhythm, rhyme, lyrics, melody), genres of music and instruments from around the world. The participants start with a blank canvas and throughout the course of the workshop write a song together. They then record it themselves and are able to take it home and listen to it!  Adam has a masters degree in teaching and has 4 years of teaching experience in an elementary setting, so these workshops truly combine his two passions; music and teaching!

Workshops can be scheduled and modified to fit many different scenarios. Anywhere from a small group for a couple of hours to a whole class for 5 sessions. Please contact us to get more information and to get a quote on a workshop that will fit your setting!

Examples

Adam has run songwriting workshops for AYS, IPS, the New Hope Day Service Program, the Holis Adam’s ADL program and the CIC Summer Camp. Here are some examples of finished products (all written by the kids of course!)
